The OC fitness and cycling community rallied together in support of Autism Action month by participating in several rides benefitting The Autism Community in Action at all four GritCycle locations in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Several notable community members and autism activists offered their time and sweat to the cause including GritCycle owners Jon and Gail Gray, CEO of TACA Now Lisa Ackerman, Newport Beach Mayor Kevin Muldoon, Publicist Alexandra Taylor, Miss Mini Donuts and Bosscat Kitchen Founder Leslie Nguyen, NBC Universal Host Jessica Vilchis, and Valentina Khan of Investors Philanthropic.

GritCycle and TACA joined forces to not only bring heightened visibility to the cause, but to also stand up for autism in action and support families living with autism. GritCycle booked over 850 charitable rides over a single weekend, donating $5 for every bike booked to TACA. In addition, GritCycle hosted a post-ride al-fresco dining fundraiser and competitive raffle at Bosscat Kitchen where all attendees were treated to a signature event-inspired cocktail, “Let’s TACA-bout It,” as well as delectable Bosscat Kitchen bites and custom Miss Mini donuts.

Attendees had the unique opportunity to bid on several items and experiences from TACA’s gracious sponsors, including Pelican Hill Resort, Newport Beach Tennis and Pickleball Club, Broadway by Amar Santana, Lido House Hotel, Arc Butcher + Baker, Boxing Lab, Mastro’s Ocean Club, Wild Goose Tavern, and more with 100% of the proceeds from raffle ticket sales donated to the TACA cause. The fundraising auction and dinner featured special guest Emily Grant, a GritCycle rider and TACA Superhero/Advocate who spoke on her personal experiences raising a son with autism, and discussed the importance of raising community awareness and support for families living with autism.

The month-long collaborative fundraising event brought multiple industries together to stand up for autism acceptance and raised over $40,000 in support of TACA Now and families living with autism. GritCycle will continue to stand in solidarity with the Autism Community in Action in building key events for all families and individuals living with autism in our community.
